Kolkata, October 3, 2010 (Calcutta Tube/IBNS): Abir Chatterjee, the Bengali Film actor, is enjoying his success with Byomkesh Bakshai and Prem By Chance talks about the Durga Puja 2010 plans. Ace fashion designer Agnimitra Paul joins the discussion and shares her plans for the Puja Festival. IBNS correspondent Gourav Mukherjea narrates the exclusive interview.

The most obvious question first. What will Agnimitra Paul, the designer, wear for the puja?

Through out the puja, I don’t wear my own creations. Dresses gifted by my parents and relatives are what I wear for the puja.

Any style advice for all the people out there?

Short kurtas are hot this season. Go for contrasting leggings and avoid duppattas with it. Youngsters can attire them with hot pants, jump suits and maxi dress. For authentic look, wrap yourself in a saree, preferably Dhakai, Bomkai, or Kanjiwaram and of course, a Tangail while giving ‘anjali’ on Astomi.

Where are you celebrating your pujas?

On Saptami, I will be in Mumbai, conducting a fashion show. On Astami, back to Kolkata. Will be giving ‘anjali’ at Laha Bari or Maddox Square.

How has your puja shopping been?

My puja shopping, is a matter completely concerned with my mother, because she understands sarees really well.

What will be your style statement this puja?

My style statement for puja is always and will be complete traditional, elegant, colourful sarees and salwars and definitely those clothes which are comfortable to wear.

Something about your upcoming film Dui Prithibi?

In this film I am casted beside Jeet and I am portraying a doctor’s character who knows life is not simple and much struggle is needed to sustain it. Nothing more now. You need to watch the movie to explore me more (laughs).

So what’s next?

My next upcoming film is ‘Mon Je Kore Uru Uru’.

Tollywood’s Bomkesh, actor Abir Chattopadhyay, had something different to say on the puja styling.

What does puja mean to you?

To me the puja is not just about worshipping the deities, its also about the people. And when it comes to clothes, I see people who never wear Punjabis throughout the year, pur into one just for Astami. So, I don’t wear one.

On the other days, I’ll wear almost anything. Mixing and matching.

Will you be in the city for the puja?

No, I won’t be here this time. Will leave for a vacation along with my family.

Tell us a bit about your experience working with Anjan Dutta in the film Bomkesh Bakshi?

Anjan da is a kind of director who is a very emotional person and he was completely connected with the film. He knows how to extract the best from the actors and that is what he did in that film.
