New Delhi, Oct 19 (IANS) More than 75,000 foreign tourists arrived in Delhi during the Commonwealth Games (CWG) fortnight Oct 1-14, a tourism ministry statement said Tuesday.
A total of 75,606 foreign tourists arrived in the capital during the period, the ministry stated, based on information provided by immigration authorities at the Delhi airport.
The sporting extravaganza began Oct 3 and culminated Oct 14. Based on the date-wise break up of tourist arrivals, the highest number of tourists – 7,527 – came on Oct 2, the day before the Games began.
According to an earlier statement by the ministry, India received 3.69 lakh foreign tourists in the month of September. This was higher than the arrivals recorded in the like period last year which was 3.28 lakh.
