Kolkata, Feb 13 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS): Emami Chisel Art Gallery has organized an art and craft fair, along with a film festival, all under one roof, with the aim of catering variety of art-works to the people of Kolkata.
“The film festival, which will work along with the fair, will showcase few of the best known films from the 70s and 80s era,” said Richa Agarwal, Director, Emami Chisel Art.
“Right from the beginning Emami, has attempted to bring best art and culture to the people in this city and this film festival will showcase few of the best films of the 70s and 80s era,” Agarwal said.
“It is really interesting to see this kind of an unique initiative where both film festival and a fair going on at the same venue at the same time,” said Bengali film actor Locket Chatterje, who was present at the event.
“I am really interested to see that so many people can watch world class films due to this endeavor,” she said.
Film Director Suman Mukhopadhyay appreciated the initiative and hoped that this film festival will grow and develop into a bigger event in the future.
Over 300 artists have participated in the event.
The visitors can witness few of the best art works like Tanjore paintings, Rajasthani miniatures, Patachitras from Orissa and West Bengal.
Exhibitors from West Bengal, Rajasthan, Orissa, Trivandrum, and Delhi have participated in the event.
The ‘ECA Art and Craft Fair 2011’ commenced in the city from Feb 11 and will continue till Feb 14.
